Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice

Sidebar art by Krista

I'm Chelsea, I'm twenty-one, a media studies and computer science major and an aspiring author. This blog is for things I think are cool and, occasionally, things I write. At the moment, I love all things Sherlock Holmes, and also enjoy Doctor Who, American Horror Story, Game of Thrones, The Avengers, and a whole lot of other things, including cute animals. I'm also working on getting fit. If you want to drop a note and say hi, feel free!

Bought my wigs for Pepper Potts and r.r. (TDD/Sigerson Irene) today, at least. They should be here in a week or two—in time for the Iron Man premiere.

Aah man I really like a lot of things about Elementary—especially the characters, now that they dropped the Holmes-Watson antagonism thing—except for the cases, god damn.

(This seems like an important “except for.”)

And really is, like, I mean, just—god damn!  Because I’ve been rewatching older episodes for canon review and whenever they stop bantering and move on to go solve something it’s like some switch gets flipped and everything becomes super generic: generic murders, generic robberies, blah.  There are some episodes of Castle, for example, that I can watch a few times over without the cases getting old, but not so with Elementary. I think it’s something about the way the stakes are set up; I never really feel the tension, and I’m never on the edge of my seat.  There are funny bits and dramatic bits within the cases, but not riveting bits.  The only episode that was the exception to this, imo (or, to quote Sherry Holmes, “imltho”), was the one with Moran.

Anyway, I’ve had a few friends ask me if they should start watching Elementary—this is just something to keep in mind if you do.  I do enjoy watching it, it’s just… that one thing that I don’t really know how to fix.

Fun with Alix from Yesterday

Me: Paula and I have a running joke where we speculate about Steven Moffat’s masturbation fantasies, but then she turns to me and says—wait, but you are Moffat.

Alix: I don’t know, I have a feeling your masturbation fantasies involve a lot more Jonny Lee Miller than Moffat’s.

Me: You don’t know that!  You don’t know his life!!

Alix: [as Steven Moffat] *mimes jerking off* God, I fucking hate Elementary.

Wow! That sounds cool, I wanna see when it’s done. I need to see if you’re a better actress than me! hehe

I doubt I am!  This is pretty different for me, since, save one exception years ago, I’ve only ever done plays.  (Alix can tell you—the last play I was in, I was a forty-something dominatrix.)  Anyway, it’s a pretty informal sort of project, and I don’t really look like a high school senior, although I’m going to get some help in that department.  I’m as curious as you as to how it’ll all turn out!  Most of the people involved with the project are new to filmmaking.

HELLO CHELSA. Do you want to talk about IreneCat? Also what kind of music have you been digging lately. Enquiring minds want to know. I'm not sure I've used that right. What even is the difference between inquire and enquire. Did I make up enquire?

IRENECAT!!  She is a product of one of Seth’s and my weirder roleplay AUs.

There is not much to say about her—she is Irene, but a cat.  She exists in AUs where Sherlock is a warlock as his familiar spirit, since, in canon, she’s Sherlock’s match; this is just a different, more platonic matching situation where she sort of exists in the role of his advisor/general companion, as it is lonely being a warlock.  In some incarnations, they have this link where they can read each other’s feelings as well.  They refer to each other as “cat” and “human.”  Neither of them belong to each other, really.  They just exist.

When John, who is not a magic-doer, comes along, as he inevitably must, Irenecat approves of him as a mate for her human.  (She is hard to please.)  Usually at some point she ends up getting accidentally turned into not a cat and has to contend with being human herself.  Humanity is a confusing thing.  Luckily, she is good at adapting.

Um, I’ve been digging a lot of Beyonce lately, to be honest.  My sister bought a bunch of Beyonce/Destiny’s Child songs when we were home on break and I took them from her and now there is a lot of nostalgia and sass in my life.

Both of those things are words!  See this here link for information.  Apparently, “enquire” is more common in Britain.
